Last week Friday for Tech we learned about the different parts of flowers and how they work. We started off explaining what Observation and Insights mean, Observation means your looking around and listening, Insights means the capacity to gain an accurate and deep understanding of someone or something. Did you know? There are estimated to be around 300,000 to 400,000 different species of flowering plants. Various species of flowers serve a variety of ecological, evolutionary, and cultural functions. We were given a challenge to write about the function of different flowers.

One thing I learnt about flowers was:

Pollination: Flowers attract pollinators (like bees, butterflies, and birds) with their colours, scents, and nectar, aiding in the transfer of pollen from stamens to pistils.

Fertilization: After pollination, flowers facilitate the fertilization process by allowing pollen to reach the ovules in the ovary and form seeds.

Seed and Fruit Production: Once fertilization occurs, the ovary develops into a fruit that houses the seeds, ensuring the dispersal and propagation of the plant.

For Tech, We did STEAM which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics. Our teacher, Mrs. Fefita, explained what we needed to do. First we needed to grab a chair and sit in a circle, then we introduced ourselves, family, values and religion. After we finished introducing ourselves, we learnt about Observation (Observation means the action or process of carefully watching someone or something) and Insight (Insight means the power or act of seeing into or understanding a situation). Armani and Mele handed out the books. We wrote our group name on the top of our book which was “The Good Maroons” and our name. The book’s name was “Observation and Insight”. We got a highlighter and pencil, and we read along the pages until Lesson 11. We had to highlight the main characters and we had to underline a word with a pencil we don’t really know. After reading we played a game, Two Investigators had to go outside while Mrs. Fefita picks the pulse maker (the one person who makes an action) and the rest of the people are the body’s (the one who has to follow the actions of what the pulse maker is doing).
