Response to Text

We are revising skills we need to read for meaning and understanding.

First I had to make a copy of the Response to Text.

Next we had to read a book called Sparks. This book is about a boy named Dillon. It was Dillon’s birthday for his present he got a scooter that shoots out sparks he wouldn’t let Harley have a turn. To find out more about Dillon and Harley. Take a look at my Class Site the book is on the reading slide. There is Kakano, Whakaaro, Mataki and Kaikorero. You need to go on Kakano’s slide because their are the one who has the book.

Lastly I had to make a copy of the response to text. And I had to find the definition of these words and write what they mean. The word Verandah, Rattle, Grim, Selfish and Ruffling.

I enjoyed finding the meaning of each words. I did well on reading the book Sparks. I need to improve on answering questions.

5 Food Groups

This week Me & Amorangi we were learning about the 5 different types of food

First we had to get a pair my partner was Amorangi. I picked her because we will make a good team.

Next Amorangi was finding the pictures and we both found the definitions.

Lastly we finshed the work and we blogged it.

I enjoyed team work with Amorangi. I did well on learning about the five food groups. I need to work on different type of word means.

Mass Conversions 2

I learned about Mass Conversions. Mass is a measurement of an object’s weight.

First Miss White explained what we had to do.

Next Miss White had Group 5, Group 6, Group 7 and then Group 8. I was in group 7.

Lastly I had to make a copy of the following task. My task was to measure in Kilograms and Grams. I had to read through the questions below and convert the answers into the correct unit of measurement. There was also a challenge question.

I enjoyed following the task. I did well on reading the questions below and answering the questions. I need to improve on finishing on time.

Response to Text

We are revising skills we need to read for meaning and understanding.

First I had to make a copy of the google slide make predictions. Before reading the story, take a look at the title. I had to write a paragraph predicting what the story might be about, and then I had to answer the questions. After reading the story, compare your predictions with what actually happens.

Next we had to read a book called Leather Satchel. This is book is about a girl named Mary. Mary was a girl who went to school and always wanted a Leather Satchel.

Lastly I had to make a copy of the respone to text. And I had to find the definition of these words and write what they mean. The words was Gully, Scowled, Clatter, Slate and Satchel.

I enjoyed making predictions. I did well on finding the meaning of each words. I need to improve on comparing my predictions.

 

FlowChart

We are learning about how to unpack a procedural text and identify its features.

First we answered questions on the jamboard.

Next we created a flowchart. A flowchart means a diagram of the sequence of movements or actions of people or things.

Lastly I finished my flowchart. I showed Miss White because Miss Tele’a was away on Tuesday’s.

I enjoyed answering the questions on the jamboard although some of the questions were hard to answer. I did well on learning about procedural text even though some were tricky to understand. I need to improve on giving a better flowchart meaning.

ANZAC Diet

This week me and my group did a Google Slide doccument on what soldiers diets were when they were in war.

First we had to do a jamboard to answer questions using our research, after that we had to do a google slides.

Next when we were doing our google slides we had to do  our title and then make the slides.

Lastly we were done and then we had to check with a teacher.

I enjoyed doing the task. I did well on the jamboard. I need to improve on working better with my group.

ANZAC Food Rations

I learnt about Anzac Food Rations.

First we had to find pictures of each item and find out how much ration would be in metric measurements.

Next I had to convert things from Ibs -> kgs, and from oz -> grams.

Lastly I had to find out what the nutritional value is of each item.

I enjoyed doing the task because the task was very fun. I did well on finding out what the nutritional. I need to improve on converting things.

Writing a Couplet

Today we learned about Couplet. A Couplet is two lines of a poem that come from one of another.

First Miss Tele’a showed us an example of a couplet.

Next Me and Amorangi were thinking what word we should put in our couplet then we picked karate.

Lastly we were writing a couplet and wrote sentences that rhymed all together.

I enjoyed writing the couplet. I did well on working with Amorangi. I need to improve by adding more details.

Figurative language

We have learning about figurative language in poetry.

First we had to listen to the teacher so we know what to do.

Next we had to copy of the slide and we had to fill in all the slide there was 11 slides we had to do.

Lastly I showed Miss Tele’a and she said great blog it.

I enjoyed listening to the teacher about the topic. I did well on showing Miss Tele’a my work. I need to improve on going faster to fill in the slide.

HPE

This week I learned how to practice softball.

First we did our warm up. Our warm up was practicing musical cones. Then we played 2 different games. The first one was a musical cone. They were laid out into two lines and everyone had to go behind the cones. For example: if there was a cone in front of you. You sit behind it.

Next we went outside and practiced playing some soft ball. We had to wear one of the gloves but you had to wear it with your non – dominant hand.

Lastly we picked up the cones, balls and the gloves and we went to say thank you to the teacher who was teaching or learning us the game.

I enjoyed practicing softball. I did well on the musical cones. I need to improve on the second game when you put cones in a circle.
